Abstract Muses, Alia Benslman and Phillip McConnell
Hosted at DVAA, August 8th - 26th
A show combining the energies and talents of two very different artists: an abstract painter and a digital artist. One artist deals with soft curves, while the other practices with strict lines. Their styles combined questions how far you can push two different mediums of art. Phillip McConnell uses Glitch Art to show what the world looks like through the eyes of a post internet millennial. He creates through distortion and destruction of an image. Alia Benslman creates abstract drawings, influenced by dots, lines and repetitive patterns that appear as different textures. Her drawings portray events from her life and social situations. This show seeks to combine the analog with the digital. As a juxtaposition they reflect off of each other like mirrors, infinity facing inward.
