Caliban Revisited - Opening Reception

Juried by the renowned Venezuelan artist Henry Bermudez, Caliban Revisited features the work of fifteen Latin Americans artists, hailing from the USA, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Uruguay, Chile, and Venezuela. Artistic responses to Caliban Revisited explore Latin American mythological as well as historical perspectives that speak to what is of individual importance to each artist.

At the center of Caliban Revisited are questions of Latin American history and identity and how these have shifted over time and geography to create a unique array of cultures with varied histories and nationalist perspectives.  The artists participating in this exhibition grapple with post colonialist questions central to Latin American identity: its art, history, colonization, politics, religion, migration/ immigration, race, language, geography, and for those living in the USA or outside of Latin America the duality of living in two cultures.
