International Constructivism - Gallery 2
Julio Mariño + Ana Vizcarra Rankin
Hosted @ DVAA - April 2nd- 15th
Exploring the continuity of constructivist influences over generations, Uruguayan-American artists Julio Mariño and Ana Vizcarra Rankin span over six decades of art across international borders and philosophical evolution. There are many flavors of constructivism, but for our purposes, it focuses on the claim that significant aspects of international history are socially constructed, rather than the inevitable consequences of human nature. Combining various media, fearless color and an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, these two artists share a legacy embodied by early luminaries Joaquin Torres Garcia and Jean Piaget, which has evolved into modern fields such as interactive machine learning systems and discovery-based teaching practices.
