Second Lives: Naval Square Artists and Friends,
Hosted at DVAA, June 18th - July 1st
The theme of “Second Lives” is inspired by Naval Square, a “new” community on the western end of the graduate hospital neighborhood, along the Schuykill River. For 200 years, it was the site of U.S. Navy activities; during the 19th century, the beautiful main building served for ten years as the first U.S. Naval Academy. It is most famous for being the Philadelphia Naval Asylum, housing retired sailors until 1976. An historic landmark, it is on the National Register of Historic Places.
