Da Vinci Art Alliance invites all artists working on or with paper to submit to DVAA's second Works on Paper competition juried by Rochelle Toner. While thematically open, this exhibition will feature the diverse and tactile nature of work with and on paper.
1st prize - $150 cash
2nd prize - 1 year Premium Membership ($125 value)
3rd prize - 1 year General Membership ($75 value)
ABOUT THE JUROR: Rockie Toner was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa. She attended the University of Northern Iowa as an undergraduate and received her MFA from the University of Illinois. In 1972 Toner began teaching at Tyler School of Art/Temple University where she taught drawing and printmaking for thirty years. From 1976 to 1979 she taught in Tyler’s study abroad program in Rome Italy. The last thirteen years at Tyler, Toner served as Dean of the School. Toner retired from full time teaching and administrative work in 2002. Toner’s studio work has always been related to and inspired by her interest in and fascination by the forces of nature and an exploration of the dynamics of gender and sexuality. Her work has been exhibited widely and is held in numerous public and private collections. In 2010 she was honored by the SouthernGraphics Council International as Printmaker Emeritus. This past fall, 2018, Toner had a one person survey of her work at the Philadelphia Print Center, including over 50 pieces in etching, drawing and collage.
DVAA POLICY: DVAA is responsible for all press releases, listings, price lists, and gallery labels. Your participation is permission to include images of artwork in promotion. Artwork will be handled with great care, but DVAA is not responsible for loss or damage. Insurance is the responsibility of the artist. When the work is delivered the Exhibitions Director reserves the right to refuse works that are not ready to be shown because of improper framing, fragility, damage or low quality. DVAA members receive 80% commission on artwork and Non-Members receive 70% sold from the exhibition and as a result of contacts made through the DVAA. Payment to the artist will be sent within 30 days. All artwork must be retrieved during the designated Pick Up Times above and cannot leave the gallery early. Artworks left unattended becomes property of the gallery and may be discarded due to very limited storage space. For any questions please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
