Our November Open Juried exhibition '404' is an open call for work that yearns to escape the modern cult of technological fragmentation, and seeks to provide a cultural resetting experience by exploring creative solutions and works that espouse the pains of modern technological evolution that increasingly compete for our attention.
Juror Eric Preisendanz is a curator, organizer, and art advisor.
We do not make content. We are not trackable data. We are not influencers.
Our limited minds have become addicted to highly processed, modern, engineered forms of visual fragments that show us only what it thinks we want to see. Algorithms are self-evolving to predict human curiosity as well as seek to capture, control, and imitate human creativity; and the result is truly unsettling. '404' is an open call for work that yearns to escape the modern cult of technological fragmentation, and seeks to provide a cultural resetting experience by exploring creative solutions and works that espouse the pains of modern technological evolution that increasingly compete for our attention.
Works will be selected based on their ability to craft narratives that pre-exist social media.
Works will be selected based on their intentional use of outdated tools and designed internal redundancy.
Works will be selected considering their overall invisibility, their 'searchlessness', their anti-technology roots or origins.
The use of social media, by all parties, during this exhibition is strongly discouraged.
"Not consumers. Not followers. Not data. 404."
