Lens on Latin America

a juried exhibition @ IHP January 8 - March 27

LightBox Film Center's Latin American programming features some of the most experimental and radical cinema to emerge out of Latin America in the 1960s and 70s, a time of profound cultural and political change.

Coinciding with the LightBox Film Center’s spring and summer spotlight on Latin American film, Da Vinci Art Alliance presents a juried exhibition of photography and photographic works highlighting Latin American themes: Lens on Latin America.

About the Juror:
David Acosta is a writer, poet, cultural worker, and community leader in the fields of arts and culture, LGBT civil rights, and HIV/AIDS activism advocacy. He is the co-founder of Casa de Duende, creating artistic programming that engages a wide range of social, political, religious, cultural, and environmental concerns among local communities. He is also the founder of the Philadelphia Latin American Film Festival.

Acosta has helped found organizations such as Our Living Legacy, the nation's first festival devoted to art and AIDS, The Latin American Writers Collective, Desde Este Lado, and the Philadelphia Working Fund for Artists with HIV/AIDS. Additionally he has served on numerous committees and boards, including past work with the Philadelphia International Film Festival, The Philadelphia Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, and The PA Council on the Arts.
